In-Clinic Diagnostics

The in-house laboratory at Newton County Animal Clinic provides pet owners with an expedited diagnosing process for their pets. We can process blood test results on site, typically within a matter of minutes. This is especially beneficial for critical illness and injury cases that need prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Some health conditions may not be obvious during an external examination. For this reason, we conduct in-house diagnostic tests to get an accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. At Newton County Animal Clinic, we recommend regular diagnostic testing so that our veterinarians will have baseline information about your pet. Having a history of test results lets us know if there is a significant change that indicates an underlying condition or disease.

Our in-house diagnostic analyzers enable us to do general profiles on our geriatric patients as well as more comprehensive profiles on our sick patients. We conduct blood chemistries and blood smears. Some of the testing that we perform includes checking for heartworms, thyroid tests, and testing for Parvo virus, feline leukemia, and Brucellosis. We also recommend blood tests prior to each surgery to screen our patients for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic.
