Wellness

A key factor to keeping your pet healthy and happy is regular wellness care. We recommend annual check-ups and consistent preventive care to help avoid serious health problems later in your pet’s life. Annual exams help us establish an overall health profile of your pet and are useful for tracking trends and being aware of potential health problems. Regular check-ups can also detect disease in the early stages, improving your pet’s ability to fight back.

At Newton County Animal Clinic, our wellness plans are tailored for our patients as they grow. The cornerstone of all of our wellness procedures is a thorough physical exam. During our wellness visits, our knowledgeable veterinarians will conduct a thorough physical examination, checking vital signs, looking for abnormalities, and testing for heartworms and other parasites. Following the exam and conversations with owners we develop a plan that best suits the patient and client. We will develop a vaccine schedule based on your pet’s risk of exposure to diseases and individual needs. Additionally, we may recommend wellness blood profiles and urinalysis for your pet at certain ages or if they fit certain risk categories.

We also offer recommendations for prevention and nutrition guidelines that are appropriate for your pet’s specific needs. We will develop preventive protocols for your pet regarding the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, your yard, and on your pet. We will provide guidance for your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance. We can also spay or neuter your pet when the time is right, not just to prevent unwanted litters, but to lessen the development of cancer in both genders of dogs and cats.

Whether your pet is a puppy or a kitten, young adult, or senior, come see us at Newton County Animal Clinic for your pet health care needs. We also provide wellness services for large animals.
